It’s really hard to be at two shows at once, so when I tackled the never ending Pomona Show last weekend, my good friends Carly and Wes Drelleshak went to the Ink and Iron Show for me. Wes got amazing shots at the event and Carly gave me the low down. Thanks guys , you rock!
The Ink and Iron Show held at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California….what a great event; from the three story tattooing hall to the hot rods, the pin up contest and a great band line up. It took two full days to make the rounds at this event. Walking into the event you are greeted with vendors that you just don’t see everywhere.
You can grab pendleton, get your girl a pin-up make over, get a haircut, shave and a beer at the Harley Beer Garden all in a couple of steps. The first set of bikes to be seen were from the dice magazine crew….nice fellas, but I really wanted to take the van home.
The cars….. a feast for the eyes. Everything from rat rods to bombs, lead sleds, low riders, and in the “Dome” the custom built hot rods; when I say custom hot rods I mean top to bottom and inside out.
Walking into the tattoo hall you are instantly surrounded with a buzz form the hundreds of booths that were doing tattoos. This wasn’t a “pick a unicorn out of a book” tattooing, there was some serious work being done.
Overall this event had it all for the Custom Culture crowd and you could easily spend all three days make your way through.
Look for more shots on this in a upcoming issue of Cycle Source.
