(AHDRA) has announced the 2009 locations for the
Screamin¹ Eagle Performance
Parts Championship Series.
AHDRA President Craig Tharpe spoke about the schedule and what is ahead for the organization. ³AHDRA is blessed with excellent sponsors who are committed to continuing their promotions and association with the sanction into 2009 and beyond.
In reference to the obvious concerns about the economy, Tharpe said, These are and may continue to be tough economic times, but we are committed to our sponsors, competitors, and spectators to deliver the goods they expect and deserve for supporting AHDRA.
According to Tharpe, the schedule will remain similar to the 2008 schedule.
We have made a few tweaks that we think will be in everyone"s best interest, he remarked. Tharpe, who has owned the organization since 2000, said that chasing better
weather and avoiding conflicts with other venues, along with maintaining safety when choosing facilities, continue to be challenges each year.
Responding to criticism that the sanction has received for the absence of events in the Western region, Tharpe had this to say: We have lost races in the Western area because of poor attendance. It remains a constant challenge to figure out why some events are well attended and others are not.
He pointed out that the Arizona and Oregon venues have proved to be stable events for the sanction and will remain on the schedule. He also noted that AHDRA will continue to reach out to the Western states, but that the organization must remain strong and healthy in order to do so.
Along with the 2009 schedule, Tharpe announced that plans are under way for television coverage. We are working with a production company and a couple of networks to create a show that depicts the true heart and soul of what the AHDRA Screamin Eagle Championship Series is all about, he explained.
In conclusion, Tharpe said that in 2009 the sanction plans to concentrate its efforts on spectator attendance and membership.
