Have you ever had a simple problem with your bike and then do something way over the top to fix it? Well, this monster of an FXD all started from a loose compensator sprocket! I can say that I have also had a loose compensator sprocket before; it sounded like the bottom of the motor was coming apart. It kind of makes a noise like a connecting rod is beating the piss out of the flywheels. Anyway, Eric got this bike as a stock 2003 FXD; it was Gun Metal Blue and just plain as hell. Eric has been a body man and painter for years and has loads of talent to do just about anything he wants. Some of you might know Eric by the name Time Bomb, or you may know him as the guy jumping off the roof at the old house where we used to have the Big Mountain Run.
Time Bomb has a way about everything he does, and he does it full force. When he thought the motor was shot on his bike, he decided to tear the whole thing down and make it really badass. So, he took the motor over to Doc Slick and had him build one killer 95” Twin Cam. This thing runs like a raped ape; everything in this motor just plain screams performance. Now this isn’t your old man’s Road King with some 510G cam that he thinks is hopped up. Eric took his heads to Don Dorfman of Head Designs by Dewey, where Don worked them and some how he put 2.02 1.60 valves in. The 11.1 Wiseco pistons accompanied with the TW9B cams really woke this machine up.

In order to let this monster breathe, he added the 2-into-1 pro stock tuned exhaust from RB Racing. I have personally witnessed this bike smoking the back tire in fourth gear like a trailer park hooker after her first date. You might have seen this bike before in the magazine back when it was green. We used it for a t e c h article on installing a Zippers’ chain drive conversion last year. After a couple thousand miles, the chain in this kit still doesn’t need adjusting thanks to Zippers’ quality parts. While all of this motor work was being done, Eric figured it was time for him to do what he does best and lay down a slick, black paint job. The Glasurit paint was laid out like a mirror and really shows his skills as a painter.
He wanted to keep the bike simple so he didn’t go hiding shit or really tearing the bike apart. He trimmed down the rear fender and welded in a little round bar to create a ridge. He took the back end and dropped it with a set of Biltwell struts and taillight mount. The sliders and the triple trees were then powder coated black to keep with that sleek, dark look he already had going on. He had the Excel aluminum rims and steel hubs powder coated black too. All of the powder coating was done in Lilburn, GA. at Miller’s Powder Coating. To tie all the wheels together, he laced them up and wrapped them with Metzeler 880 tires. To top off the frontend, Eric decided on some Biltwell stubby risers and Frisco bars. He also took the time to trim down the factory clutch and brake perches. The gold, Hippy Killer grips really set off the black paint and the SS bolts on the tank.
Last year, Time Bomb’s ol’ lady got him a sweet gift from Xian leather. As always, Christian did a great job tooling this seat out; the details are impeccable. See, I told you this wasn’t your local, swinging dick’s bike that talks shit down at the dealer on Saturday to impress all his fat friends. I can say this because I know the bike can back it up. So now if you run across some crazy, tattooed man riding this bike, jumping off a roof somewhere or building a fire that looks like it should be in the desert at Burning Man, then you know who you have met: Time Bomb. And always remember, you never know when the Time Bomb is going to go off!
