So, history has always been written by the winners, right? Well, this may be a bias report from an American citizen, but my patriotism dictates that I expel the poison in my ears. How is it that US and Russia who have always been in the space race, both leaders from its inception, become extinct in this program? Some of our most valuable technology has been extracted from this race, yet this year we drop out of space exploration all together. Russia disappeared years ago, and their country, being as unstable as it is…well let’s face it, there is hardly a Russia to have a space program in right now. With all this said, the news that came in this morning that China just launched their first woman into space sets a new tone. What’s wrong with this? Well nothing if you happen to be in China. If you are American, then there is plenty. You see, funding for programs like this are at the top of the list for cuts when a country is in economic trouble. In contrast to that, when a country is strong, then programs like space exploration become more viable. What this news meant this morning, in the same year that America canceled its space shuttle program, is that China is moving miles ahead of this country, and our weak trade policy is funding it all.
Now we have no problem that this was a woman that they sent into space, but more importantly that she and a crew are headed to dock in China’s space lab. Can you not see that this is merely a symptom of a long illness our government suffers from? What if we took the “who cares” approach to the interstate system, public parks, the Hoover Dam, and the Brooklyn Bridge? What would this country be if we didn’t think “We The People” all these years but thought like our leaders do today which is more a mentality of “I For The people?” When will we wake up and see how far behind our educational system and infrastructure is lagging. Roads in piss-poor condition and a standard of living that for many is quickly approaching that of a third world country.
Just the other day I saw a post on Facebook from a returning service member who was thrown out of his house by a bank that foreclosed on it. There are no jobs for returning service members. They are retuning to a country whose leaders have sold out. We have sat idly by and watched our leaders stab a fat straw in the middle of our country’s heart and we have become complaisant as they have sucked the life right out of it. WAKE UP!
So what do we do? Well, sitting on our asses and believing that any one man can make change hasn’t worked. Sitting on our asses in any protest in any city park has been a lack luster imitation of the truly revolutionary approach that Patriots have always taken to tackle challenges that threaten their liberty. We have always been a people who would dive into anarchy to protect freedom. That sentiment came up again in the sixties, where even the hippies enacted more change than we have since then. Believing that either party of our government is going to make the right choices for a people they are so vastly removed from, or completely estranged from in some cases, has also failed. So I ask you, what course do we take? What will it take for you to personally become motivated and become part of the solution? Where are the true leaders among us?
