In the storage area of the Indiana State Museum sits James Dean’s 1955 Triumph TR5 500cc Trophy.
The new exhibit ‘Eternal James Dean, opening Nov 23-June 2nd’ Dean only had the bike a few months, before his death in 1955.
The museum’s exhibit will show off Dean’s Indiana roots (born in Marion, raised in Fairmount), his film career and his gear-headedness —
If you know anything about James Dean you know he loved motorcycles and fast cars. He was in fact driving a terrific Porsche when he was killed.
The death Porsche will not be on display but the ’49 Ford (red, huge white walls) Dean borrowed from his uncle to ferry his date to and from his high school prom.
