I was blown away when I heard the noise coming out of the television that Apple has plans to add jobs to the American Economy. The other night on Rock Center with Brian Williams Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, did just that. See the full report here This is shocking news as Apple has previously been one of the most successful US companies manufacturing products in China. While Apple may be getting a bad rap recently they have added an estimated 600,000 jobs to the US economy to date. While these jobs vary from Apple store retail employees to researchers and even third party developers, their dealings with Foxconn has really put them in the hot seat these past few years. This was due to a rash of suicides at Foxconn run factories in China that brought questions about the working conditions there. In any event the report goes on to say that the company plans on moving manufacturing of another of their MAC line back to the United States. With profits in the range of 42 billion dollars last year it’s sure that Apple can lead the nation in this effort, but will they stick to it? We can only wait and see.
