S&S Cycle Keeps Harley-Davidson Power Alive From 1936 to 2026

For nearly seven decades, S&S Cycle has built its reputation on delivering Proven Performance for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, but the company’s latest message hits just as hard for vintage enthusiasts as it does for horsepower junkies. At a time when riders and builders across the industry continue to worry about finding replacement and performance parts for older Harley-Davidson models, S&S Cycle is making one thing crystal clear: they’re still all in on supporting American V-Twin history.

Since opening its doors in 1958, S&S Cycle has continuously developed replacement and performance parts for Harley-Davidson engine platforms dating all the way back to 1936. While the company remains deeply invested in modern performance development for today’s Milwaukee-Eight® platforms, the team in Viola, Wisconsin, hasn’t forgotten the riders keeping Panheads, Knuckleheads, Shovelheads, Ironheads, and Evolution-powered machines alive on the road.

That commitment is reflected in the company’s massive new 590-page catalog, which includes replacement and hop-up parts covering every Harley-Davidson engine family from 1936 through 2026. From oil pumps and rocker arms to pistons, cams, cylinders, and complete flywheel assemblies, the catalog serves as one of the most comprehensive performance and replacement resources available in the V-Twin industry today.

Whether you’re rebuilding a survivor bike, freshening up a longtime daily rider, or squeezing more horsepower out of a vintage platform, S&S continues to provide the parts needed to keep old iron running strong for future generations.

According to Howard Kelly, Vice President of Marketing for S&S Cycle, the demand for printed catalogs remains surprisingly strong despite the industry’s digital shift.

“While much of the world is going digital, we know our dealers and our end-user customers like a printed catalog, so we created one—again,” Kelly explained. “Whether at consumer or dealer shows, when people see a catalog on our display table, they pick it up and ask if they can have it. Usually there is a story about how many of our older catalogs they have at the shop or in their garage and the excitement of a new version is really rewarding for us to see.”

That kind of loyalty doesn’t happen overnight. Founded in 1958 by George Smith and Stanley Stankos in Blue Island, Illinois, S&S quickly became synonymous with American V-Twin performance. After Smith bought out Stankos, the company evolved into Smith & Smith—better known simply as S&S. In 1969, the operation moved to Viola, Wisconsin, where it remains headquartered today, later expanding into La Crosse in 2004.

While technology, engine platforms, and performance expectations have changed dramatically over the years, S&S Cycle continues to focus on the same mission that built the brand: delivering reliable performance parts and supporting the riders who refuse to let classic American motorcycles disappear.

The complete 1936–2026 S&S Cycle catalog is available online through the company’s dealer center, and printed versions can be purchased directly through the S&S website or ordered through authorized S&S sales representatives.
