2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide Returns to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary

Harley-Davidson has revived the iconic Super Glide for 2026, bringing back one of the most influential factory customs in motorcycle history. Limited to just 2,500 serialized motorcycles, the new Super Glide celebrates America's 250th anniversary with classic styling, Milwaukee-Eight 117 power, and unmistakable Harley-Davidson heritage.

The 2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide is back, and with it comes a tribute to one of the most influential motorcycles in the Motor Company’s history. Harley-Davidson has announced the return of the iconic Super Glide as a limited-edition model celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, bringing classic styling and modern performance together in a package that honors the original 1971 factory custom.

Production of the new 2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide will be limited to just 2,500 serialized motorcycles available exclusively in the United States and Canada. The special edition cruiser carries an MSRP of $15,999 and joins Harley-Davidson’s Softail-based cruiser lineup for 2026.

A Tribute to the Original Factory Custom

When the original FX Super Glide debuted in 1971, it represented a groundbreaking shift for Harley-Davidson. Designed by Willie G. Davidson, the motorcycle blended the Big Twin FL chassis with a narrower Sportster front end, creating a factory-built custom motorcycle inspired by the chopper and custom culture growing on the streets of Southern California.

The new Super Glide pays homage to that legendary machine with White Onyx Pearl paint, red and blue striping, and the stretched Bar & Shield tank graphics that made the original instantly recognizable. Bright chrome accents, laced wheels, a five-gallon teardrop fuel tank, and mini ape handlebars complete the classic cruiser profile.

Each motorcycle features serialized badging on the fuel tank console, reinforcing its limited-edition status.

Milwaukee-Eight 117 Power

Powering the 2026 Super Glide is the proven Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-Twin engine. Tuned for broad, usable torque and effortless rideability, the engine delivers strong street performance while maintaining the unmistakable Harley-Davidson sound riders expect.

Engine Specifications

  • Displacement: 117 cubic inches (1,923cc)
  • Bore x Stroke: 4.075″ x 4.50″
  • Compression Ratio: 10.3:1
  • Peak Torque: 120 lb-ft
  • Peak Horsepower: 98 hp
  • Recommended Fuel: 91 Octane

The Milwaukee-Eight 117 is paired with a single exhaust system and classic round air cleaner, maintaining the vintage-inspired appearance while delivering modern performance.

Softail Chassis and Modern Technology

Beneath its retro-inspired styling, the 2026 Super Glide benefits from Harley-Davidson’s modern Softail chassis. The hidden rear suspension preserves the hardtail look while offering significantly improved comfort and handling.

Suspension components include 49mm dual-bending valve front forks and a hidden rear monoshock with hydraulic preload adjustment. Tubeless laced wheels equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) technology add convenience without sacrificing classic appearance.

The motorcycle also comes standard with Harley-Davidson Rider Safety Enhancements, including:

  • Cornering ABS
  • Cornering Traction Control
  • Cornering Drag Torque Slip Control
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Three Selectable Ride Modes

The 2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide features three electronically controlled ride modes that allow riders to tailor performance to changing conditions.

Road Mode: Balanced performance designed for everyday riding.

Sport Mode: Enhanced throttle response and stronger acceleration throughout the rev range while maintaining smooth, predictable power delivery.

Rain Mode: Reduced throttle sensitivity and increased electronic intervention for improved confidence in wet or low-traction conditions.

Classic Looks Meet Modern Convenience

While the styling remains firmly rooted in Harley-Davidson heritage, the Super Glide includes several modern amenities. Full LED lighting improves visibility, while a console-mounted instrument cluster combines an analog speedometer with a multifunction LCD display.

A USB-C charging port provides convenient power for modern devices without disrupting the motorcycle’s clean appearance.

Road Glide Liberty Edition Joins the Enthusiast Collection

Alongside the Super Glide announcement, Harley-Davidson also revealed the new Road Glide Liberty Edition, the latest addition to the company’s 2026 Liberty Edition Enthusiast Collection.

The Road Glide Liberty Edition joins the previously announced Street Glide, Street Glide 3 Limited, and Heritage Classic Liberty Edition models. Each motorcycle features Midnight Ember paint and eagle-inspired graphics that draw inspiration from Harley-Davidson’s historic Bicentennial and Liberty Edition motorcycles.

The collection commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States while celebrating Harley-Davidson’s enduring connection to American motorcycling culture.

A Motorcycle That Comes Full Circle

Few motorcycles have left a mark on Harley-Davidson history quite like the Super Glide. More than five decades after Willie G. Davidson introduced the original factory custom, the 2026 Harley-Davidson Super Glide brings that same spirit back to a new generation of riders.

With classic styling, modern technology, Milwaukee-Eight 117 performance, and limited production numbers, the return of the Super Glide is positioned to be one of the most significant Harley-Davidson special editions of the 2026 model year.
