Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum to Celebrate 22 Years

Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum will celebrate its twenty-second anniversary on July 4-8, 2024

The museum in Maggie Valley is home to the world’s premier collection of rare and vintage American motorcycles and memorabilia. Encompassing 38,000 square feet, the museum guides visitors through the evolution of American motorcycling and automotive history. The collection features over 375 machines on display, comprising twenty-five makes, including Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Henderson, Pope, Yale, Crocker, Flying Merkel, and many more.

The anniversary weekend’s events will include museum staff firing up some of the rarest and most unique bikes in the collection and sharing American motorcycle transportation’s compelling and unique history. Guests will also have an opportunity to see some of the museum’s latest acquisitions including an original paint 1955 Harley-Davidson Panhead with sidecar, a 1952 Harley-Davidson WL and a 1953 Panhead Chopper.

The museum will also host the American Motor Drome Company’s Wall of Death, which will perform free shows outside the museum throughout the week-long event. Touted as “America’s original extreme motorcycle show,” The Wall of Death is a vintage live-action thrill show featuring a motor drome, a silo-shaped wooden cylinder 30 feet in diameter. Inside the drome, motorcycle daredevils travel along the vertical wall performing trick, fancy, and acrobatic riding.

“We are excited to be celebrating twenty two years of sharing the story of American motorcycle history,”  said Museum Curator Matt Walksler, “this is a great time for anyone who has never visited the museum to check it out and understand what we are all about.”

The Anniversary weekend also coincides with the museum’s monthly Haywood County Locals Day on Saturday, during which residents of Haywood County receive free admission to the museum. All that is required is a valid ID showing residency. Food trucks and other refreshments will be on-site throughout the event.

Located at 62 Vintage Lane in Maggie Valley, Dale’s Wheels Through Time is open Thursday-Monday, 10 am-5 pm each week. The anniversary celebration will happen July 4th-8th. For more information, call 828-926-6266 or visit wheelsthroughtime.com
