Harley-Davidson is making room for a different kind of rider with the new 2027 Sprint 440. The lightweight, single-cylinder motorcycle is headed to U.S. dealerships in spring 2027, with final assembly taking place at Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations in York, Pennsylvania. It’s a notable move for a company best known for heavyweight V-twins: a smaller, lower, more approachable machine meant to get more people on two wheels.
The Sprint 440 makes its public debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, November 5–8, 2026. Harley-Davidson developed and engineered the model in partnership with Hero MotoCorp. Availability varies by market, with some international dealerships getting the bike ahead of the U.S. launch.
2027 Harley-Davidson Sprint 440: The Numbers

At the center of the bike is a 440cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine putting out a claimed 27 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 28 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. It uses electronic fuel injection, a single overhead cam and two valves, with a counterbalancer intended to keep vibration in check. A six-speed transmission includes overdrive fifth and sixth gears, and the assist-and-slip clutch is designed for a lighter lever pull and smoother downshifts.
Harley-Davidson claims up to 80 mpg in combined riding from a 2.4-gallon fuel tank. That’s a manufacturer estimate, not a Cycle Source road-test result, and real-world mileage will depend on conditions and how hard the throttle gets twisted.
- Engine: 440cc air/oil-cooled single
- Claimed output: 27 hp at 6,000 rpm; 28 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm
- Transmission: Six-speed with assist-and-slip clutch
- Ready-to-ride weight: 412 pounds
- Laden seat height: 26.4 inches
- Claimed fuel economy: Up to 80 mpg

- Brakes: Front and rear discs with standard ABS
A Lower Seat, Without Stripping Away the Hardware

That 26.4-inch laden seat height may be the headline number for riders who have struggled to get comfortable on taller motorcycles. A narrow profile and tapered saddle help shorten the reach to the pavement, while the 412-pound ready-to-ride weight keeps the Sprint well below the heft of Harley’s big twins.
The chassis gets 43mm inverted front forks with 5.1 inches of travel and piggyback rear shocks with seven-position preload adjustment and 3 inches of travel. Ten-spoke cast aluminum wheels measure 19 inches in front and 17 inches out back. Braking comes from a 320mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, with ABS standard.
The styling doesn’t abandon the Motor Company’s roots, either. There’s a familiar cruiser stance, a suspended round headlight, bobbed rear fender, fastback seat and a tapered muffler. Color choices announced for international markets are Dark Billiard Gray, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder, with an orange tank graphic and a new “Harley Hare” side-cover character. Harley notes that graphics can vary by market.
Modern Gear, Simple Motorcycle

The Sprint pairs its straightforward engine with a round 3.5-inch color TFT instrument display, LED lighting and a USB-C charging port. Riders looking to personalize the fit will have optional Reach and Tallboy seats, while announced accessories include saddlebags, a sissy bar, a windshield, an engine guard and alternate handlebars.
Harley-Davidson President and CEO Artie Starrs describes the Sprint as an invitation for new riders, returning riders and veterans who simply want an uncomplicated motorcycle. That’s really where this model becomes interesting: it offers a Harley-Davidson badge and familiar styling without requiring a heavyweight motorcycle as the entry ticket.
When Does the Sprint 440 Reach U.S. Dealers?
Harley-Davidson says the 2027 Sprint 440 will reach the United States in spring 2027, with final assembly in York, Pennsylvania. An exact U.S. dealership arrival date and final U.S. MSRP were not specified in the U.S. announcement supplied to Cycle Source. In Canada, Harley-Davidson lists an MSRP of $8,499 CAD; that is Canadian pricing and should not be treated as the U.S. sticker price.

It’s been a while since Harley brought this kind of accessible machine to the conversation. Whether the Sprint finds its audience will come down to the U.S. price and, more importantly, what it feels like out on the road. We’ll be watching as the American launch gets closer.
