I was heading down HWY 74 to map out the Hippy Killer Hoedown and something struck my attention, there is was, The Big Bear Chopper Rig. I started thinking, maybe they sold the rig, maybe it is a dealer for them and started asking our friends if they heard what the scoop was. No one knew, so I took some Cycle Source Magazines over and got the inside scoop. Big Bear Choppers is expanding and they choose Perris, Ca as their future home for fabrication and repairs. This makes perfect sense as the IE- Inland Empire- is basically a hour from everything the desert, mountains and the ocean. I had the opportunity to speak to Mona Alsop, vice president of BBC and Kevin’s wife yesterday and here is the low down
“ First off I need to state that we are not closing our main location located at Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains. As soon as people seen us moving some of the equipment , they all thought we were leaving. That rumor is not true, this is our home. Recently,we started receiving a lot of calls from Inland Empire region looking for motorcycle repairs. It wasn’t cost effective to have them make the roundtrip to drop off their motorcycles. Sadly, there have been a lot of service shops that have closed in Temecula and the surrounding areas, so we took the chance and found this great location. We will service ALL Makes and models and continue to create one off motorcycles for our loyal customers at the Perris location. Our home location will still have the showroom, service center and will be the location for our 9th BBC 8th ANNUAL RIDE THE MOUNTAIN (details coming soon.)”
