You know Duane is a avid fan of the Hondas so he was stoked to get his hands on a membership card from Jeff Billa at the Long Beach Swap Meet. Here is a little tidbit on the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club…………
Founded in 1977, the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club (VJMC) is the premier worldwide club dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and enjoyment of vintage Japanese motorcycles (20 years old or older) and the promotion of the sport of motorcycling. The VJMC is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT IRS reregistered 501 C (7) group. Because we are a 501 C (7) Club, all contributions to the VJMC are deductible to the full extent allowed by law. The VJMC has affiliated branches all over the world. The North American branch has over 2,700 enthusiastic and dedicated US and Canadian members. Regardless of where we are located though, members share the same love of old Japanese bikes – street or dirt – and welcome those of you who share our interests to join us. Annual membership is only $30.00 USD.
The VJMC publishes a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to vintage motorcycling. This publication, available free with membership, includes a calendar of events, stories related to vintage bikes and the people who ride them, technical and restoration tips, coverage of bike shows, rallies, and local events, and classified ads. We also offer members-only content at www.vjmc.org including recent classifieds, tech tips and articles, back issues of the on-line magazine and a huge members bike photo archive.
Most states have local field representatives to assist members with club-related issues and events. In some cases, local VJMC Chapters have been created to promote enhanced member involvement. A complete list of field representatives, officers and members of the VJMC Board of Directors can be found on the web site and is periodically published in the club magazine.
Yearly the VJMC participates in various events such as the Japanese-only White Rose show and has a presence at many major motorcycling events, including Daytona, Barbers in Leeds, Alabama and Mid-Ohio Vintage Daya. We host national rallies for all members. In 2001 and 2002 the event was held in Asheville, North Carolina. In 2003, 2004, and 2005 the event was held in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In 2006, the National rally was held near Cadillac, Michigan. Beautiful Cumberland Gap, TN. was the location of our August 2007 Rally. This is an annual event complete with rides, a bike show, technical and historical seminars, and field events. Don’t miss our 2008 National Rally which is planned for Heber Springs, Arkansas in September 2008.
VJMC welcomes all new members and is proud to celebrate our Clubs’ 32st year of vintage Japanese motorcycling this year, 2009.
