Electric……Yes that is what I said. An electric Chopper. This bike is something of science fiction but it has really been built and is currently for sale. The Detonator designed by Daniel Simon who also designed the Tron Bike both built by Parker Brothers Choppers .
This bike is coming to life in a street legal version that is 11.5 foot. Electric power goes to a 27-inch rear wheel via dual 96 volt electric motors mounted in the hub. An hour’s charge to the lithium-ion battery pack is enough for an 80-100 mile range, and on the dyno it’s done 120mph – though whether you’d want to attempt that elsewhere is another matter.
Steering is handled by an incredibly trick hub-center mechanism that allows the whole bike to cut an incredibly low profile.
This concept came about by Simon and he calls it a “Street Cruiser bike built for humanoid droids.” So if you happen to have $100,000 that you want to toy with then you to can have a Detonator for your very own.
