The Inaugural Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally

The Inaugural Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally is roaring to life at Iowa Speedway, just 30 minutes east of Des Moines, IA, on Interstate 80. The premiere weekend on July 26-29, 2012, promises to be one of the Midwest’s top-tier rallies.
At the invitation of Iowa Speedway, Jay Allen of Jay Allen Productions and creator of the World’s Biggest Biker Bar, The Broken Spoke Saloon, will help develop, in coordination with Speedway personnel, the rally at the premier motorsports complex. “It’s an honor to help produce a rally at such a great facility, and to be apart of the Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally is truly something special,” said Allen.

“I have been promoting and emceeing rallies for over two decades, and my goal is to be a part of the Iowa Speedway team that will deliver aiowa-speedway world class experience that unites motorcycle history and tradition together with the exciting motorcycle culture of today,” Allen went on to say.
Iowa Speedway Chairman Conrad Clement is a longtime motorcycle enthusiast who enjoys attending bike rallies across the nation. “I have known Jay Allen for several years,” Clement said. “His ability to provide customers a top notch experience will be drawn upon as we gear up for the Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally. This will be the perfect venue to host the inaugural event.”
The preliminary schedule of events for the Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally weekend on July 26-29, 2012, has a full slate, including: a honorary military event, a bike show, major concert acts, celebrity meet and greets, motorcycle drag races, sportbike and touring events, a swap meet, and several other soon to be announced events. Plus, there will be ample on-site camping. All details will be forthcoming on the rally’s official website, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Chaz Allen, Mayor of Newton, IA, also expressed his enthusiasm for the newly announced rally and not only because he himself is an avid rider. “We are accustomed to several, high-profile race weekends every year out at Iowa Speedway. To now have what is sure to be one of Iowa’s top motorcycle rallies, in our back yard, speaks volumes for our community and will surely give Newton another economical boost.”
Several industry luminaries have already shown support for the July 26-29, 2012 weekend event. John Parham, the founder of J&P Cycles in Anamosa, IA; Chris Callen, the editor and founder of Cycle Source Magazine and Rally TV ; and several regional motorcycle dealerships have expressed their eagerness to get riders at the event.
“When I got news that Jay Allen was taking his show on the road, I was so fired up. Here’s a mind that knows how to deliver a good time, no matter where he is, and it just makes sense that he would end up in the heartland of the USA on his new project,” says Callen.
