The Biltwell crew is at it again

 

The Biltwell crew know who to ride and party like no other. They have created numerous events for the scene and their latest, the El Diablo Run , is right around the corner! Be sure to join them on Wednesday, May 4 th @ the NEW Biltwell headquarters . Our very own, Mike Deutsch had a huge role in shaping up this once open space into an amazing piece of property. He is also covering the EDR for us and we can’t wait to get his take on the whole event.

“First and foremost, this ride is centered around riding your hand-built motorcycle, preferably an old one. BUT, it is open to anyone on any machine. There is no entry fee or official anything. We will be leaving the Denny’s on Rancho California Road and and the 15 fwy at 8:00 AM Thursday, but feel free to just meet us in San Felipe.”

Thursday, May 5th:
Ride to San Felipe, Baja
Friday, May 6th:
Hang out, drink beer, fix bikes, San Felipe
Saturday, May 7th:
Ride from San Felipe to Ensenada
Sunday, May 8th:
Hang out, avoid jail, awards presentation, Ensenada
Monday, May 9th:
Split lanes and take names all the way home

 

We always stress being self-sufficient, not to act like bad asses but to warn those who have never been. The whole thing is only about 600 miles round trip from Southern California. Not exactly iron butt miles for a three legged trip. Granted, Mexico miles always seem longer because of sketchy roads and long stretches of isolation, but that’s the point. It’s a unique area to ride and that’s what makes it fun. If your bike is a roach and you don’t trust it, have a girlfriend in a truck or some other back up plan because cell phones rarely work and there is no calling triple-A down there.

There will be potholes. And giant speedbumps. Probably a couple sections of smooth dirt or gravel detours around road construction. Sometimes that detour is ten miles long. Sack up, it’s just a dirt road. Motorcycles, even choppers, love dirt roads. The wise rider goes single file on these roads and gives a little more interval between other riders. Best of all, break off into a small group with your buddies and go at your own pace and enjoy it. You do not want to ride at night.

We get away with a fair amount of hell-raising but two things you don’t want to bring to Mexico are guns and/or drugs. Believe it.
