Sturgis Or Bust – 2012 Road Tripping With The Cycle Source

Day 1

It is still almost unbelievable to me that at the beginning of the week leading up to out Sturgis Trip, our van needed painted, our events still hadn’t been finalized and we still didn’t know for sure who from our staff was coming. The van had been clipped by a kid with a cell phone habit and the front end had to be rebuilt in the driveway at Source HQ. The amazing part wasn’t that we got it up and running in time for Mt. Fest a week earlier but had time to paint it in the driveway the day before we left again for South Dakota. From there it was a quick pack, last minute addition of Matt Reel who will be writing about this whole adventure in the November Issue of Cycle Source, and then we hit the road, only four hours behind schedule. That would be the closest we would ever be to keeping to a plan for the rest of our trip.

Our first stop was Led Sled Customs in Daytona Ohio, where we were going to hang out with their crew while we had a new stereo / GPS system installed in the white dragon (Cycle Source Van). After a few hours we picked the van up before heading to the Villa for bike night, which was bitchin, only to find that we had lost the ability to shift the transmission. Six hours later and with a running van we headed north to pick Kerri from Pandemonium up and continue westward. Into the late hours we pushed on. Watch for details on day two soon, and tune in for Matt’s full report. You won’t want to mss this one, I’m living it and I can hardly believe the amount of crazy shit that happens to us on the road.
