ShopTalk Episode 330 kicked off the new year the way only ShopTalk can — with garage chaos, fast-flying jokes, big announcements, and one of the most meaningful conversations the show has ever hosted. Broadcast live from Cycle Source Magazine headquarters in Pittsburgh, the episode blended motorcycle news, a stunning Shovelhead chopper feature, and a powerful interview with Eric Gorges of Voodoo Choppers and A Craftsman’s Legacy.
If you missed the live show, this is everything you need to know.
What Happened on ShopTalk Episode 330
From the opening moments, ShopTalk Episode 330 had the feel of a room full of people who hadn’t seen each other in a while. Daytona Bike Week was already looming. The studio was buzzing. The chat was packed. And Radar somehow crossed the comment line first — again.
Chris Callen kicked things off by talking about getting recognized by a fan on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which perfectly set the tone for the night. ShopTalk isn’t just a show — it’s a community of riders, builders, and lifers who recognize each other in parking lots, gas stations, and greasy rest stops.
Motorcycle News from ShopTalk Episode 330
Indian Motorcycle Turns 125
Indian Motorcycle’s 125th anniversary was a major talking point. The crew discussed the brand’s roots going back to 1901 and how Indian helped shape American motorcycling long before V-twins were cool. The “Never Finish” campaign became a talking point about how craftsmanship and performance still define the brand today.
Spectro Oils Returns to MotoAmerica
Spectro Performance Oils confirmed its third straight year as an official MotoAmerica partner. Riders who grew up mixing Golden Spectro in their dirt bikes know this name, and the crew made it clear: seeing them back in racing support matters.
Biker’s Choice Unveils New Parts
Biker’s Choice showed off a wave of new V-twin parts at AIM Expo, including billet grips, BMX-style foot pegs, CV40 carb replacements, and M8 oil-temp dipsticks. ShopTalk Episode 330 made it clear these aren’t gimmicks — they’re parts meant for people who actually wrench.
Garage Build Off Builders Announced
One of the biggest moments of ShopTalk Episode 330 was the reveal of the first six Garage Build Off builders for Smokeout 2026. This competition highlights real-world garage builders working under a $10,000 budget (not including the donor bike).
The first names announced were:
- Dave Mattei
- Derek McKenna
- Jeremy Swenson
- Tim Morton
- Scott Basso
- One additional builder revealed live on air
The remaining six will be announced on the next episode.
Frank Holcomb’s 1976 Shovelhead Chopper
Frank Holcomb of Paris, Tennessee brought one of the most authentic bikes featured on ShopTalk in a long time — a 1976 Shovelhead chopper built with true 1970s soul. Influenced by Easy Rider and Outlaw magazines, Frank built the bike the way choppers were meant to be built: by feel.
The paint was handled by legendary artist Ron Finch, using his iconic kaleidoscope style. Frank gave him one instruction: “Go full Ron Finch.” The result was a psychedelic masterpiece that made the bike feel like it was destined to exist.
Eric Gorges on Craftsmanship and Why the Work Matters
The heart of ShopTalk Episode 330 was the long-form conversation with Eric Gorges, founder of Voodoo Choppersand host of A Craftsman’s Legacy.
Eric spoke candidly about his past — working at Xerox, battling severe anxiety and agoraphobia, and being pushed by a therapist to ask a life-changing question:
“If money and knowledge didn’t matter, what would you do?”
His answer led directly to motorcycles, metalwork, and the creation of Voodoo Choppers in 1999.
Why A Craftsman’s Legacy Exists
Eric explained that A Craftsman’s Legacy was created to prove that people can still make a living with their hands — and that you don’t need permission to start.
Whether it’s bladesmithing, luthiery, woodworking, leather, or motorcycle fabrication, the show exists to inspire people to start building now, not someday.
There are no shortcuts. The mistakes are the point.
Why Building Slows Time Down
One of the biggest themes of ShopTalk Episode 330 was how making things anchors your life.
Eric and Chris talked about how scrolling erases memory, but building creates it. When you weld, sand, paint, or ride, you’re forced into the present. That presence is what makes time slow down — and what makes life feel real again.
Motorcycles do the same thing. Mile by mile, the noise falls away. What’s left is focus, movement, and meaning.

ShopTalk Episode 330 wasn’t just a motorcycle show — it was a reminder of why we build, ride, and keep showing up. Eric Gorges said it best: the work is the point. Whether it’s a chopper, a knife, a guitar, or a motorcycle trip, doing real things in the real world is how you take time back.
If you missed it live, this episode is one you’ll want to watch twice.
