Our man on the street, Nate Beck, checks out the latest from Cardo. Cardo’s Packtalk Pro introduces a unique and vital feature: a crash detection system. An inertia measurement unit in the headset senses the dramatic shift in a crash. It immediately alerts your emergency contact that a crash has happened, sending your location to them.
Another nice feature that makes life easy with the Packtalk Pro is the auto on/off feature to save battery life. A long battery life is rated at around eight hours of continuous communication while music and GPS are also running. The audio is powered by 45-millimeter JBL speakers, the truest and most balanced sounding headset communication speakers I have experienced on the market.
Now, while the microphone does work better in a full-face helmet, a thoughtful feature in the app is that the microphone has a level adjustment to mitigate wind noise as best as possible. So, if you are running an open-face helmet, it will not perform as well as a full-face helmet, but it still does work. You’re going to hear some wind noise on the other end.
This premium system from Cardo comes in at $459 with a three-year warranty. For more information, you can check it all out at www.cardosystems.com
