In Honor of those who served and who are serving

What is Memorial Day to you? Did you know that Memorial day was once called Decoration Day? That it was named that after the American Civil War to commemorate the Soldiers who died in the Civil War.

It was not until later in the 20th century that it had been changed to Memorial Day to honor ALL Americans who have died in the military service.

In 1868 General John Logan declared May 30th to be the first Memorial Day.

In 1971 is was then made into a federal Holiday and moved to the last Monday in May.

So make sure you take the time today and remember those who have sacrificed for your freedom.

What can we do to help get the younger generation today to understand that this day is not just for a long weekend, or it is not just a national day of BBQ? What are your thoughts?

Thank you to those who have served and who are serving today. Thank you to the families, they sacrifice just as much.

Thank you for your service for our Freedom.

Today is in Honor of you!
