Hogs 4 Hope Falls to the River Run

Hogs 4 Hope… Sunday, April 28th, is a charity motorcycle event that benefits The Ronald McDonald House of NYC. The members of The Yonkers Fire Department have been hosting H4H for the last four years. The YFD was initially invited to H4H to help feed the riders because we all know, firefighters can cook..and eat!! The following year the members of The YFD were asked to take over H4H.

RMHNYC is an amazing “home away from home” for children and their families who are being treated for childhood cancers in hospitals in the New York City area. RMH has held a special place in the hearts of The YFD for the last twenty years after one of their members was a guest at RMH. They have been heavily involved ever since, raising tens of thousands every year.

The weather was perfect as the bikes rolled in for registration at the Croton Dam (Croton-on-Hudson, NY). After a cup of coffee and a bagel the riders were anxious to get out and ride. With kick stands up at 11am, twelve motorcycle cops lead the way, followed by 210 bikes and 10 Rat Rods. It was a scenic 43 mile ride through Westchester County, NY to the party at the JFK marina in Yonkers.

Rolling in to The JFK marina you were overwhelmed by the view of the Hudson River Palisades and the aroma of BBQ. We got right on the line for food and picked up a pulled pork sandwich and moved closer to the music. The Nightriders band was playing some awesome southern rock. In between sets, H4H kept us entertained with The Miss Hope pinup contest. Several of the contestants were from Suburbia roller derby league, these ladies added a little spice to the pinup contest!!

The guys from YFD know how to throw a great party with all the awesome food, live music, and a pinup contest. Attendance through the day was 435 and raised just under $20k for RMH. If you’re around Westchester, NY the last Sunday in April look up Hogs 4 Hope. Hope to see ya!!

GET OUT AND RIDE!!
