Harley-Davidson has pulled the wraps off one of the most interesting additions to its 2026 lineup with the introduction of the 2026 Harley-Davidson Deadwood, a stripped-down cruiser that pays tribute to the motorcycles returning World War II veterans built in their garages long before “custom motorcycle” became an industry.
Available exclusively in the United States and Canada with an MSRP of $17,999, the new Deadwood draws heavy inspiration from the early days of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the rebellious attitude that helped shape American motorcycle culture.
The motorcycle will make its public debut on August 7 during Harley-Davidson’s activation at the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, giving riders their first chance to see the new model in person.
Built Around the Original Bobber Philosophy

Before there were custom bike shops, there were veterans returning home from World War II looking for freedom on two wheels. Many removed unnecessary parts from their motorcycles to make them lighter, faster, and more personal. That garage-built mindset eventually became known as the bobber style.
Harley-Davidson says the Deadwood was designed to capture that same spirit.
Everything about the motorcycle reflects that minimalist approach. Bright chrome is kept to a minimum, while black finishes dominate nearly every visible component, including the engine, exhaust, handlebars, controls, fork covers, lighting, and rear fender struts. Only the lower rocker covers and pushrod tubes receive chrome treatment to emphasize the Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin.
A Denim Black paint scheme, five-gallon teardrop fuel tank, tuck-and-roll solo seat, black laced wheels, chopped detachable windshield, and the clean lines of the Softail chassis all work together to create a motorcycle that looks like it could have rolled out of a post-war garage.
Milwaukee-Eight 117 Power
Power comes from Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic engine producing:
- 117 cubic inches (1,923cc)
- 98 horsepower
- 120 lb-ft of torque
- 10.3:1 compression ratio
The engine is paired with a blacked-out 2-into-1 exhaust designed to improve scavenging while delivering the deep exhaust note Harley riders expect. Like other Milwaukee-Eight models, the Deadwood can also be upgraded with Screamin’ Eagle performance components.
Classic Styling Meets Modern Technology
Although the styling looks decades old, the technology is completely current.
The Deadwood comes equipped with Harley-Davidson’s latest Rider Safety Enhancements, including:
- Cornering ABS
- Cornering Traction Control
- Drag Torque Slip Control
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Riders can also select between Road, Sport, and Rain ride modes depending on conditions.
Other modern features include:
- Full LED lighting
- Five-inch analog gauge with LCD information display
- USB-C charging port
- Heated gear connectors
- Hidden rear monoshock suspension with hydraulic preload adjustment
Designed With Sturgis in Mind
Perhaps the most fitting detail is the motorcycle’s name.
Deadwood sits just a few miles from Sturgis and has long been one of the iconic destinations during rally week. Harley-Davidson says the model celebrates not only the town’s western heritage but also the independent spirit that has drawn riders to the Black Hills for generations.
Whether you’re looking for a factory-built bobber or simply appreciate motorcycles that honor Harley-Davidson’s post-war roots, the Deadwood is one of the most distinctive additions to the company’s Cruiser lineup in recent years.
Expect to see plenty of attention surrounding this motorcycle when it makes its public debut during the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
