As you are probably aware the internet is on fire with reports that the State of Georgia, by virtue of grant money received from the NHTSA Motorcycle Law Enforcement Grant, will be staging Motorcycle safety stops during date that coincide with Florida’s Daytona Bike Week.
Could you please verify whether or not this information is accurate.
We are concerned that a large number of motorcyclist traveling through your state, at anytime of the year, may not be familiar with the laws in your state that define the parameters of a motorcycle safety check. We are also concerned that out of state riders may be familiar with different check point procedures that may or may not be used by your state.
In an effort to insure that riders will be able to travel through your state legally and safely could you please advise us as to what exactly these checkpoints will be looking for and what procedure they will be using.
Also so that many of us may be better able to factor in any delays that may impact our travels either to or from Florida
would please provide us with the dates, locations and times these checkpoints as per grant monies received will take place. We are fearful that some riders who are not aware of that Georgia will be engaging in this operation and may inadvertently put themselves at risk, e.g. not understanding or being aware that the check point exists and their obligations when arriving at such a checkpoints
We attempted to verify the accuracy of this information via the Georgia Department of Public Safety. However the phone numbers provided by the site lead to messages that the number(S) are not available and their is no pertinent info on their site.

cooperation of all involved will enhance all our efforts at achieving improved Motorcycle Safety and saving lives.
