Saturday, April13th…a party I had been waiting for since I saw the fliers being posted over a month ago.
GENUINE MOTORWORKS celebrated its fourth birthday as a motorcycle apparel shop priding itself on American made products that are built tough and made to last – from boots to helmets and everything in between.
Situated in an old industrial warehouse, GMW found a way to keep that rugged feel and successfully carve out a cool shop in which to sell their goods.
We rolled in from Westchester, NY around 8pm and instantly knew we had the right place! All the bikes lined up against the curb was a “dead give-away”. As I walked the line, it was cool to see all the different bikes that turned up; choppers, bobbers, and cafe racers. Brooklyn is a very hot area loaded with grass roots motorcycle builders who love to break out and show off their latest builds.
We wandered inside and were greeted by the host, Elisa, who pointed us to the bar. One of our crew was in need of a new helmet so Elisa took her over and fitted her for a new lid.
I had to grab a beer ‘cause you know you can work up quite a thirst checking out bikes! The bar area was pretty crowded and as I got a cold one, I stepped back and listened to DJ Schafer spinning some great tunes that had the crowd rocking!!
Later on, I found my crew in the showroom. They were buying helmets and checking out art by Greg Bemis that was hanging on the walls. Turns out GMW occasionally features works from local artists.
With Midnight fast approaching, we got ready to head out. By the Big smiles on everyone’s face, it was clear all had a great time!! Would like to thank Elisa and Bob Seeger for the great time! See ya’ next year for birthday #5
