Is it a trashcan? A Mailbox? or a speed trap camera? Who knows!
Well now you really need to be on the lookout because the cops are making it even harder to spot them as well as speed cameras.
We all have learned several ways to spot cops and speed cameras, so with that said, police in one major U.S. city are getting more savvy about disguising their revenue-generating cameras.
What the police in and around Washington D.C. area wanted to expand their speed camera program. In doing so they are purchasing many cameras that look like mailboxes and trash containers to unsuspecting motorists. They’re also more mobile, so police can reposition them so drivers cannot get used to seeing them in one particular area.
One nearby county put in to use roughly 60 mobile cameras last year. With those cameras they issued 349,000 citations in the first nine months of use! This resulted in approximately $8 million in revenue.
This is not the only city or county that has put similar programs in use. Not everyone is pleased.
