A bunch of us went to packed event on Feb 7th. It revolves around two worlds of rebellion that collide when a band of low brow artists display what rebellion means to them at a public gallery opening titled The Art of Rebellion. Mr. Shepard Fairley, fame for the Obama poster, was to be present. This didn’t happen because he got detained by New York’s finest for laying down some graffiti the night before. The show has been extended at the ROBERT BERMAN GALLERY At Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica, California. What a great way to celebrate a coming out party for Harley-Davidson’s latest dark ride, the Iron 883TM motorcycle.
Ten artists displayed a custom-painted Harley-Davidson® gas tank in the event’s theme. The gallery of tanks as well as a piece from the artists own collection will be on display and available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Art Matters, a charity that supports and encourages the exploration of new ideas and art. The first 100 copies of a limited edition signed Shepard Fairey poster was given away at the event.
“At Harley-Davidson, we understand the concept of personalization,” said Paul James, director of product communication for Harley-Davidson. “This event brings together two worlds that represent breaking ground, pushing limits, and making something your own. The Iron 883 is a raw and elemental bike built for those with a passion for self expression.”
