So you may have noticed that we have really started to step up the amount of information that is hitting our blog and our social media outlets. Well, it seems that magazines are on the hook to perform better while at the same time the national magazine distribution system SUCKS.Other magazines are working on their own remedies for dealing with the upcoming challenges we all have to face in 2016 and many of them are taking drastic measures to overcome them.
We have decided the one thing we have on our side is 2o years worth of content. Feature bikes, tech, shop visits and killer stories, all in the pages of past issues. With so much of what we do already hitting social media throughout the year, we figured why just let all that great content and incredible photos sit on a shelf waiting for someone to order a back issue. So on behalf of the photographers, writers and advertisers that brought you all this great coverage to begin with, we are opening up the vault to let it out free to the general riding ravenous public.
Now this doesn’t mean that Cycle Source is going digital only and no, you will not be able to get the same content that is on newsstands right now. It does mean that everything we have published for the past 19 years will start to show up on our blog. You will also be able to search through tons of tech and feature bike articles and find what you’re looking for. Back issues will still be available, new magazines will still be produced but this gives us, in our opinion a much needed boost in the reach of the great content we put in our pages.
We will still struggle to find the best way to deal with the extremely aggravating and megalithic system that delivers national magazines, but for now we have decided not to sit back and wait for that industry to get better. Instead we will push on and use our strengths to find other ways that the newsstand could not possibly achieve at this time. So what can you do? Well, check it out man. And by the way, I’ve posted this picture before and I honestly don’t care that the glasses or gloves I wear when I grind don’t meet you approval. The fact that I have them on at all is testament to my attempts at safety….. Just sayin’
