Priceline Bikers? – Monday Morning Editorial

So I’m having my morning coffee and watching the idiot box while I conjure the wherewithal to deal with the world in a more civilized manner when a commercial comes on. It’s a Priceline commercial and there is old Captain James T Kirk of course but this time he is all dressed in biker garb, well at least what the straights think we all look like. The premise of this skit is that a biker gang rolls into a desert gas station, old Kirk with full beard mentions to who I assume is the leader “Razor” that he can save money finding a hotel on Priceline. Now in the next 45 seconds they pissed me off, they make reference to motorcycle people being fat, unkempt and by the end Kirk rolls out with the leaders “Ol Lady” as they refer to her as he happily announces that she isn’t the other guys anymore and then they show a property tattoo on her shoulder as he pulls a wheelie on his FXR. Ok, not sure where to start with the problems I have with all of that but lets move on. In the construction of this little offering they make sure to include one of every demographic, that’s marketing talk for being politically correct, ya know, one black guy, a Hispanic, a sport bike, even a girl that’s riding her own bike. Gives ya a nice “We all belong” kinda feeling. Actually it makes me wanna puke. Look Kirk, stick to schtick of one liners and alien chicks in furry bikinis and as far as Priceline goes you can forget me ever using your stupid service or supporting your company in any way until you rectify the most severe case of rectal cranial inversion I have personally seen in years. Now that I’m pissed, I’m gonna go get that second cup of coffee.

people always make fun of what they don’t understand. its a common habit of the lazy minded to just “assume” they know something just from their own encounters. Definitely can be said by this piss poor example of a commercial.
