With the fall weather upon us, it’s time to start putting the layers on. While I have a heavy duty arsenal for real cold weather riding, my in between gear is somewhat lacking. Recently, I got the opportunity to try out the new Black Brand Street Team Jacket and I think I found the perfect 3/4 season cover. Now, the one thing I love about the next generations impact on the motorcycle scene is that not everything has to be leather jackets and dingo boots anymore. The Street Team Jacket is excatly that, different. This jacket has the same outward apperance as any casual fall denim or canvas jacket you might see in any men’s department. It has a no frills look from far away and would go great with a hoodie or flannel tucked underneath for an additional layer.

Up close, it’s all motorcycle jacket. With D3O® Armor in the shoulders, elbows and back for real protection while being totally comfortable. Not only is there a full-sleeve, windproof zip-out liner that fits in the jacket pocket when not in use, the inner liner is a thermal regulating mesh that helps keep you at the right temp. It has functional vents that zip open just above both chest pockets, 2 chest, 2 zip belly pockets and one left breast zippered stash pocket. All the zippers on this thing are YKK® Zippers which makes a difference for anyone who has had a long history with riding gear. The polyester/nylon outer fabric has been treated to be water- and UV-resistant and for an additional level of safety a discreet reflective piping outlines the shoulders.

The collar snaps down to avoid face flap, another feature that only long time riders might think about. The now famous Black Brand Skull is embroidered on the left sleeve and adorns each button on the jacket. Ok, so at $250 this jacket, to me is a great deal. Having paid $99 for a quick swap meet buy riding jacket…nearly 30 times before I started to realize that you get what you pay for, I am now a little more discerning in my purchases. The amount of features this jacket comes with make it a more than fair purchase if it was based on that merit alone. Throw in the fact that it carries a three-year warranty against manufacturer’s defects and each purchase benefits injured returning vets, as indicated on the lable inside the coat, this is a very good buy.
