Custom Chrome and the Chip Challenge® Check it out!

Custom Chrome (CCI) in conjunction with The Sturgis Buffalo Chip® designed a challenge for select students to build a custom motorcycle. It was announced today that the bike is complete and it will be on display and up for auction Monday August 8th during Sturgis Rally. All of the proceeds from the auction will support the 4th Annual Legends Ride.

Based on a platform of a new 2011 Harley Street Bob, the build saw Western Dakota Tech students rebuild the bike from the ground up using custom designed and fabricated parts as well as many aftermarket parts and accessories sourced from the 2011 Custom Chrome catalog. Prugh and his students tore down the bike to its bare frame and rebuilt it as a custom machine. The finished product is not only a great looking motorcycle but also demonstrates what can be done with a stock H-D, a great aftermarket parts catalog and plenty of hard work.

“We first displayed the bike and the students at our 2011 Dealer Show in March and at that time, they were just starting the project,” states Custom Chrome President and CEO Holger Mohr. “To see what they’ve created from that basic, stock Harley is really amazing and inspiring!”

“As you can see with the finished bike, the 2011 Buffalo Chip Challenge was a huge success due to the collective efforts of industry leaders like Custom Chrome, Black Hills Harley-Davidson, and Michael Prugh.” said Rod Woodruff, owner of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “With their support, the students of Western Dakota Tech had an opportunity to gain real-world expertise and an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.”

The 2011 Sturgis Buffalo Chip Challenge bike is to be sold during a special live auction at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on Monday, August 8th to highlight the conclusion of the 4th annual Legends Ride.  For more information on the bike and the live auction, log on to www.legendsride.com
