I have found that a pair of surgical gloves work very well when worn under leather gloves. One is they keep your body heat in, in the winter and also keeps your hands from becoming stained from the dye when it rains

Diving gloves make great riding gloves. They are thin, waterproof, light weight and insulated. They come in different lengths and have good grip. Very warm gloves for cold weather riding.

my hands are sore on colder days so I usually wear gloves, I have several types. those deer skin work gloves with the pull string you know the one with the little red ball ;) easy on the wallet. Now winter riding bring on the 'thinsulate'. I can tell ya the first thing that hit the ground the last time I was down was my hands. So yes I like gloves. Do I always wear them? No.
