Michigan Helmet law could be lifted……

Soon bikers in the state of Michigan may get the choice whether or not they choose to wear a helmet. Legislation passed the Michigan House 69-39 Wednesday afternoon. The bill will now go to the Michigan Senate. If it passes the Senate, it is unclear if Governor Rick Snyder would pass it. Similar attempts were vetoed by former governor Jennifer Granholm. If the legislation passes, it would allow riders 21 and older to go helmet-free if they meet required insurance and experience thresholds. Many bikers think it should be up to the biker whether to wear a helmet

Motorcycle Exhaust Decibel Testing for Maine

Rogue-Sturgis Freedom Fighters -Motorcycle Hall Of Fame Member 2005-www.bikerrogue.com Maine has adopted a simple yet reliable testing procedure that allows motorcyclists to prove their bikes don’t violate Maine’s motor vehicle sound law, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) reports. Under a new law that went into effect on May 26, motorcyclists ticketed for excessive sound emitting from their motorcycle exhausts can go to a certified inspection station for sound testing. There, the exhaust system would be tested using the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J2825 stationary sound testing procedure – "Measurement of Exhaust Sound Pressure Levels of Stationary On-Highway Motorcycles" – Read More>>>

Don Gustavson Carson City — They said it could never happen. Lobbyists would joke about it in the hallways. Legislators would privately roll their eyes each time the bill was introduced. Yet, session after legislative session — five to be exact — state Sen. Don Gustavson, R-Sparks, would push a bill to repeal Nevada’s motorcycle helmet law. And, session after session, Gustavson would watch the bill die in committee, never to see it make it to the Read More>>>

Motorcyclists gather at Capitol to lobby representatives

Sent in from Rogue Leather vests, chaps and blue jeans replaced standard business attire up and down the Capitol hallways Monday as motorcyclists from across Texas gathered to speak with their representatives about legislation affecting their freedoms and lifestyle. At the top of most motorcyclists’ agendas: helmet laws, profiling and a proposal to institute roadblocks to catch drunk drivers. Tom Cross hoped the group’s numbers — and perhaps their atypical Capitol attire — would bring their concerns to legislators’ attention. “These are our regular clothes for a lot of us,” the Orange-area resident said. “I wear these to church.”

OSHA Wants to Ban Motorcycles

Imagine if motorcycles did not exist and someone tried to bring them to market as a new, efficient, fun, space-saving form of transportation.  They would never get even considered for government approval for sale. Notice that she was not teaching the kids how to do wheelies and burnouts (that’s our job) just riding along and someone in a truck caused the accident.  People think she was the negligent one because she rode a motorcycle that day.  At least OSHA was nice enough to not cite Tiffany or the school for her riding a motorcycle that day. I’ll get shit this Read More>>>

From Our friend Rogue Like many areas of the country Florida’s Legislature is in session. That means there will be a lot of new laws proposed and passed. I try to pay attention to these proposed laws and how they will affect, motorcyclist, friends, family and me personally. I also try to let others know so that they can look at these proposed laws to see how they will affect them. There will always be different opinions and rightfully so and everyone should look at the pros and cons of each issue. Any law that is passed will affect all Read More>>>

This came from Cycle News Blog... I think it is great

Many are currently fighting the injustice of the CPSIA – which has banned the sale of youth OHVs – by going by the book to make their voices heard. But Malcolm Smith remembers a time when motorcyclists were rebels. He, and a number of others in the motorcycle industry, decided to take the rogue path and protest to the CPSIA in a more aggressive manner.

Stop The Insanity: Updated

The Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 Could Be Devastating To All Joe Hawkins walked into his local dealership in Washington State, strolled up to the parts counter and told the salesman that he wanted to buy a throttle tube for this Kawasaki KLR650. He was told that couldn’t be done. Turns out the throttle tube on a KLR650 is the same as the throttle tube for a KX65. Huh? It all comes back to the recent legislation that imposes strict lead content guidelines on children’s toys. Kid’s toys, lead content… how does that relate to Hawkins and his Read More>>>

Trouble For Bikers In Florida

It was a response to a post from Pepper of the Sturgis Rally and needs your attention! …And speaking of freedom, let’s not forget the grassroots movement in this country, and around the world, who represent riders, who are generally unaware of the battles that are still being fought so they have the right to ride. Currently Florida is trying to pass legislation that will allow your motorcycle to be confiscated should you do something illegal.
