I know there are some many people who are guilty of texting and driving, talking on cell phone and driving, and any other distracting things. We all have done it or been distracted by something. With that said it is still needed to get the awareness out that motorcycles are everywhere and that to take a split second and look twice it just might save your life as well as someone else’s. This is by no means to disrespect anyone, Read More>>>

Motorcyclists gather at Capitol to lobby representatives

Sent in from Rogue Leather vests, chaps and blue jeans replaced standard business attire up and down the Capitol hallways Monday as motorcyclists from across Texas gathered to speak with their representatives about legislation affecting their freedoms and lifestyle. At the top of most motorcyclists’ agendas: helmet laws, profiling and a proposal to institute roadblocks to catch drunk drivers. Tom Cross hoped the group’s numbers — and perhaps their atypical Capitol attire — would bring their concerns to legislators’ attention. “These are our regular clothes for a lot of us,” the Orange-area resident said. “I wear these to church.”

OSHA Wants to Ban Motorcycles

Imagine if motorcycles did not exist and someone tried to bring them to market as a new, efficient, fun, space-saving form of transportation.  They would never get even considered for government approval for sale. Notice that she was not teaching the kids how to do wheelies and burnouts (that’s our job) just riding along and someone in a truck caused the accident.  People think she was the negligent one because she rode a motorcycle that day.  At least OSHA was nice enough to not cite Tiffany or the school for her riding a motorcycle that day. State and local police plan to crack down on drivers whose vehicles make too much noise, when changes to a state road noise law go into effect July 12. That means if a motorcycle’s exhaust system has been modified so it is louder than when it first was installed, a driver is in violation. “This applies to all vehicles, so if someone is issued a ticket for operating a motor vehicle with excessive exhaust noise, it’s a $137 fine,” said Lt. Brian Scott, commander of the state police traffic safety unit.

Are Cameras the New Guns?

Just received this from Rogue, very interesting folks……. In response to a flood of Facebook and YouTube videos that depict police abuse, a new trend in law enforcement is gaining popularity. In at least three states, it is now illegal to record any on-duty police officer. Even if the encounter involves you and may be necessary to your defense, and even if the recording is on a public street where no expectation of privacy exists. The legal justification for arresting the "shooter" rests on existing wiretapping or eavesdropping laws, with statutes against obstructing law enforcement sometimes cited.
