American-Made RSD “Lazy Boy” Jacket For The Café Crowd

rsd

June 15, 2012 – Los Alamitos, CA – The new “Lazy Boy” jacket is as inviting as a well broken-in Barcalounger… and even more comfortable. The Lazy Boy blends Café Racer fit and function with the durability and comfort of a heavy cotton duck fabric. An added benefit of the 14.75 oz. duck material is the fact that it is water-repellent, yet breathable — perfect for summer time riding.

“We wanted a jacket that was simple and breathable to keep those summer rides cool,” explains designer Roland Sands. “Yet it still had to provide a measure of protection and fit like a proper café-style jacket. The Lazy Boy was the result.” Another great feature, it is made in America.

Function follows form and true to its roots, a café shorty-style snap collar, rotated pre-curved sleeves, zip-up cuffs and dropped back panel were all incorporated into the design brief. “With the chest pockets, shoulder pocket and an additional soft-lined electronics pocket inside, there is plenty of room to stash everything you need.” says Sands.  A touch of color comes from the red satin liner, but the choice of black and khaki exteriors keeps it subtle.

Roland Sands

Sands is from Long Beach, California. He began his life with the upbringing and diverse experience in the motorcycle industry. His first motorcycle was a Suzuki RM 50 dirtbike, given to him on his 5th birthday…which, after just minutes of riding, he broke a bone, but fell in love with it anyway. His love of speed on two wheels took him to the professional racing ranks for 10 years. He set multiple track records around the world and was the 1998 American Motorcyclist Association 250GP champion. However, 32 broken bones later, Roland decided to trade in his racing leathers for a hammer, pencil and a computer designing and building motorcycles and custom motorcycle products. As Director of R&D and Design at Performance Machine he created many award-winning designs. In 2005, after the tremendous success Sands found on Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off vs. Arlen Ness, Sands founded Roland Sands Design. Sands’ designs are a mixture of sportbike and chopper influences and he has played an important role in popularizing high performance custom bikes to the masses.
