The Yamaha XS650 world has been slowly coming to the scene for a while now and there is not a show or event that is specific for the XS650, until now… Pandemonium Custom Choppers figured that it was beyond time that a bunch of likeminded people got together to celebrate something that we all really enjoy and have fun with…the XS650. That is how the XS650 ChopOff in Defiance Ohio was born. At the beginning of the year, those who want to compete in the ChopOff enter on www.XS650. com. Builders are required to post pictures monthly on www.XS650. com of the bike they are building. T Other than that there really are no other rules or requirements except that the bike must be completed and running by the event. The bike is required to run a 10 mile ride and make it back to ChopOff with no issues. Once the riders complete the ChopOff Eligibility Ride it is then that they are entered into the running to win the ChopOff Builder of the year award. During the XS650 ChopOff Pandemonium hosts a separate bike show that is open to everyone including the ChopOff builder bikes. This show is judged by beer can voting… Yes, Beer Can Voting, each bike has a beer can and everyone puts a ticket in the can for their bike of choice. Each bike’s tickets are then tallied and trophies for the Top 5 bikes, People’s Choice and Best of Show are awarded. The trophies were hand crafted from scrap parts by a few volunteers. This year the Best of Show Trophy was painted by Visual Impact. Thanks to our sponsors who supported the event Hugh’s Handbuilt, TC Bros Choppers, JumpStreet Customs, Ranger Leather, and of Course Cycle Source Magazine there were a ton of cool prizes given out along with a bunch of 50/50 prizes and pull tab prizes up that were for grabs as well.

Bikes started rollin’ in around noon on Friday and got the party started. We spent the majority of that first day kicking back and chillin’, getting to know everyone and checkin’ out the bikes. Saturday’s activities kicked off with the ChopOff Eligibility Ride and throughout the day there were plenty of activities to choose from including bike games such riding the plank, and fastest kickstart or you could try your arm at swinging the giant sword that weighs about 40lbs but is about 6’ long. A few took a shot at it but none were truly successful. People were swimming in the pond and boogie boarding across it behind a 4 wheeler (the folks from Arizona never really got out of the pond, they loved it!) and some sat around the campfire and shot the shit with new friends and old. Dinner both nights was by our Grill Master John he made some killer burgers! We had a few people come from as far as Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Overall the XS650 ChopOff is a really a laid back, good time for people with a common bond. This is the 3rd year that we have had the ChopOff and it just keeps getting a little bit bigger every year. So if you love the Yamaha XS650 and want to have a good time make sure to come to the XS650 ChopOff at Pandemonium this year! Make sure you put it on your Calendar for August 19th & 20th 2016!
