RIP MCA

“Now my name is MCA. I got a license to kill.”

Beastie Boys legend Adam Yauch — otherwise known as MCA — has passed away at the age of 47, after losing his battle with cancer. Yauch revealed that he had cancer in a salivary gland in his neck in July 2009.

Most of us misfits at one time in our life rocked out to some good ole’ Beasties jams in the day, so to consider these guys “old enough”

to pass away, kinda put things into perspective like “Holy Shit, I could be gone tomorrow too??”

In 1986, The Beastie Boys released their first full-length album, “Licensed to Ill,” which became the first hip hop album to top the Billboard 200.

Recently, The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but Yauch was unable to attend the ceremony.

The Beastie Boys became just the third rap group to enter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, after Run-D.M.C. (2009) and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (2007). The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame telecast is scheduled to air on HBO on Saturday night.
