Where did common courtesy go?

Bitchin sticker donated by Biltwell, Inc

IMG_7153 I was baffled at the last bike show that I went to. It is common knowledge that you don't touch another guys bike but over and over I watched dudes go up to different motorcycles touch the paint, seat and even have the balls to sit on it, not knowing or caring who it belongs to. When did it become ok to cross this line? The very line created by the Grandfathers before us that would grab you off the bike, kick your ass and send you on your way. Is it time to resort to those measures again? Let me know your thoughts

Yeah… bring it back… I’m not your buddy and if you sit on my Pan, you are going to know it… respect seems to be a thing of the past these days. I tell you what, I wouldn’t DARE sit on another guy’s bike… I don’t care what the guy looks like or who he is… it is his bike and unless he offers, I will admire from a safe distance. I would only expect the same.

Fuck yeah, it’s time to bring back the ‘old ways’ for sure!

Respect for others is just one of the things we’ve forgotten about from our grandfathers. How about personal responsibility and freedom of choice as well?

One of the things I love most about bikes and bikers is that we seem to be one of the last groups that still embraces these old-school values, at least when compared to the rest of society. Sad to see the shitheads movin’ in on our little slice, fuckers…

My buddy and partner, Dave Cook, loves when people sit on his bikes to see how they feel, how they fit…. but they better show the courtsey to ask first. I remember a time when Dave was laughing and talking with a guy and he said to him, “go ahead! Sit on it! See how it feels!” and the guy did and a short time later another guy came up and just grabbed the handle bars and plopped down…. Dave went nuts on him and the guy stammered…”but that other guy sat on it!?” to which Dave replied, “he asked, and I gave him permission.”

It is a huge difference between being invited in, and just barging in. I would never put any of those “warning” stickers on my bikes…. but I still hope that I don’t have to.

“YA Jimbo thats when its time to change there looks , sometimes respect needs to be taught to some assholes !!”

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement…and i plan on doing that to a couple people in the very near future… :)

    Also….I wasn’t aware that those things weren’t still happening…
They always have, & always will, in my world…!!

I think it has something to do with todays “Bubble-Gun Bikers”…….
and it might amaze you, who some of these people are… :) :)

Every time I have the bike in a show (the fire dept bike with internal throtle) it takes forever to start cause of everyone fukin with it. It is a 1 kick shovel. When I had the S&S B on it I didnt have the problem and suddenly with the E I did. Then I realized everyone wants to know “where is the throttle” when the bars are clean and twists the grip excessivly priming the cylinders with fuel. I go through so many plugs due to this and even had to put inserts in the heads due to them wearing out cause noone wants to leave it alone. unfortunatly the sticker on my bike hasnt worked either so its back to the old ways I guess………
