Wicked Big Losers Contest Announced

Motorcycle Industry Personnel Rally Around Healthier Living

Loser Logo

During Daytona Bike Week, Chris Callen of Cycle Source Magazine and Roadside Marty Of Willies Tropical Tattoo Show were on the topic of the need to lose the winter pounds. Well, as normally happens, one thing lead to another and they started a contest to see who could be in better shape by the end of this year's riding season. Well, as long as these two are going to the mat in the name of good health, they decided to take it into the motorcycle media and see who else they could get involved with this contest. Here's the outline of what's going on:

Official starting weight, photo, age and current health conditions will be established in the first issue. From there they will give monthly updates as to their personal health, fitness level and diet as well as updated weight and picture. Through a monthly release in whatever print media and all blogs and motorcycle news Web sites will carry it, the progress of the Wicked Big Losers group will be tracked as they work their way towards better health. There will also be small bits of information from health and nutrition experts, fitness trainers and long time motorcycle personalities who practice good health like a religion.

But we need more big losers!

If you are or know anyone that could stand about six months of getting in shape, please contact us ASAP as we are in the process of launching this campaign.

* Warning what you are about to witness, might make you want to drop that ho-ho right now...Good Luck guys

Here is the first installment from the first three contestants.

Chriss Chris Callen - Cycle Source Magazine,

Age: 38, Height: 6 feet, Starting Weight: 309, Exercise Hours Per Week =0 Health: Poor

Since the magazine has gone to the national newsstands I have had very little time to take care of myself, hence the very large spare tire that has amassed around my midsection. (No I am not smuggling free Dunlops across state lines). Anyway, after many lectures from friends and family, and one time when Cyril Huze told me I'm not built for love,  I am ready to get back in shape, for my health and appearance. Riding hard and partying like a nut is only okay if you prepare your body for the abuse of life on the road. I have not and it's staring to take its toll. I look to lose about 80 pounds during this challenge, that was the weight I was at about five years ago when the magazine went to the regional newsstands and I started working 18 hour days. PS- Roadside, it's on like Donkey Kong.... Beyatch!

Roadsides Roadside Marty – Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Chopper Show Judge

Age: 39, Height: 6 feet, Starting Weight: 319, Exercise Hours Per Week =0 Health: Fair

When I got out of the army in ’97 I kinda let myself go. People have been telling me I had to loose weight but it didn’t become obvious until Colleen said something to me in Cincinnati when I bent over to tie my shoes and lost my breath. It was obvious I had to do something. I’m gonna try and hit the Gym 3 to 5 times a week, and instead of lifting only I want to try and do cardio and light weight lifting.

I hope to loose as much as I can, but I don’t want to put a number on it. I will say that by December I had hoped to be down to 240 or 250 so wherever this ends will be good. I hope that

As many miles as we ride you have to be able to take the abuse and I notice more and more that after a long trip it takes the better part of a week to recover. We’ll still party like rock stars but we’ll be a little more responsible. Now everyone say it along with Roadside.. “Wildman is a BEEEYOTCH”!!! And I WILL be the biggest looser here.

Pauls Paul Wideman - Bare Knuckle Choppers

Age: 36, Height: 6 feet 4 Inches, Starting Weight: 295, Exercise Hours Per Week =0 Health: Fair

Alright, so when Wildman asked if I wanted to be part of a weight loss contest, I first asked if he was yanking my crank. After realizing no crank was yanked, I said, yeah, screw it, I'm in.
My goal is a little different from some of the other participants. Whereas most are just trying to shed a bunch of weight, I am actually just trying to relocate most of it. I played a little football in college, and I have been about the same weight ever since, approximately 285. Right now I'm 295, so I would like to knock a few off. More than anything, I need to get rid of the gut, and throw in a little muscle up top (wrestling Ferguson every 4 or 5 weeks proves I could use it).
I really want to do this to give myself more energy in the shop. Plus, when you put on a crapload of miles on the bike, stamina and strength really come into play. I know it was a lot easier to ride to the coast and back eight years ago than it is now. Me and some of the Limp Nickie crew are going to be logging a LOT of miles this year, so I gotta be ready for it.
I'm going to start by running 2-3 days a week, and lifting 3 days a week.  I'm kinda lucky that I still have a pretty high metabolism, cuz my diet is crap. Well, that's all gotta change too. No more fast food, no more soda.
Man, this little experiment is gonna be tough. Aside from trying to lose weight, I'm also tossing the bottle out, as well as traveling a lot. Those factors add up to way too much temptation and a strained will. We'll see...

    Hey Guys,
reading some of the profiles, before digging into this fitness challenge you all really need to talk with your doctors first. I see some health issues that raise an eyebrow. The objective of this challenge is to get healthier, don’t risk your health trying to loose the most pounds, you could put yourself at risk. All the contestants on the TV show are closely monitored by physicians…. so please see your doctors first!!! ~Sara
