Here’s to another successful year of the BAKER Smoke-Down Showdown at our new home, the Broken Spoke County Line!

DSC_0067

Press release by Trish Horstman

Being the originators of the drag race style, head-to-head burnout competition in Sturgis, BAKER was prepared to make this year more monumental than any year before, and we did just that! We put over 20 builders, during two nights, poised 6 feet in the air on our amazing Burnout Cage built by the legendary Wink Eller and Jay Allen. These industry giants went head-to-head, two-by-two until in the end, both nights, only one man was left standing… and both nights it was the same guy!

The competition changed a little this year: we took out the element of BAKER judges and put in a fool proof system. We checked for 1st gear, you do the burnout, you hit an indicator button to declare you’re in 5th gear, we check for 5th, and if you are: you win! So it made the competition more exciting and fast paced – no longer was it first to 5th, but also fastest on the button!

When all the smoke cleared, the winner both nights was, without a doubt, Kevin Alsop of Big Bear Choppers.

BAKER Drivetrain would like to send out a huge thank you to all who participated and to our generous sponsors: Spectro Oils, Biker’s Choice and Indian Motorcycles of Chicago. Also thanks to the folks who dove in at the last minute to fill spaces left by guys who bailed. Your spontaneity and desire for burnt rubber is only matched by our gratitude! We would also like to thank Jay Allen and the Broken Spoke Saloon for hosting our nights of mayhem!

K&G Enjoys Sizzling Face to Face Interaction at Sturgis Rally Week

2010 Sturgis Dani_girls K&G Cycles, the virtual motorcycle parts and accessories superstore, made quite an impression at this year’s Sturgis Rally Week festivities at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. The site that boasts over 100,000 motorcycle parts available online was ecstatic to take a break from their computer monitors in exchange for some face to face interaction with their customers during this year’s celebration. Lucky for rally-goers this involved getting in some face time with the sizzling K&G Cycles Girls.
Making themselves available to their customers in the flesh were newly-appointed K&G Cycles Girls, Dani and Denice. Out and about throughout the week, K&G’s promotional models gave away nearly 5,000 rally rags, promotional items and lots of smiles.
"The girls did a great job this year," says George Marakas, owner of K&G Cycles. "Not only did they manage to keep their cool during the intense heat but they also had a wonderful time getting to know our customers- everyone was so friendly. We’ll definitely be out again next year."

CA Noise Bill SB435

mcptoonaug2010

SB435 has been before the California legislature for some time and various motorcycle groups have been involved in its discussion, most opposed.

If this bill is signed into law by the governor you can expect it to be tried in other parts of the country.

Will this bill affect you or someone you know?

If you live in California and or know people who do, have them write, e-mail or phone the Governor’s office and ask him not to sign this into law.

If you do Not Live in CA contact the governor and let him know you have seen his television ads about visiting California and though you are considering it you will not if you can not ride your motorcycle there because of this law.

The fact that the Governor does own motorcycles does not mean he will not sign this bill into law. Remember it will not affect him or his motorcycles as no cop that wants to keep his job will ticket him.
