Most kids in high school who dabble in the arts only ever dream of becoming an international artist, and would be surprised if anyone other than their mom saw their art. They just enjoy it, maybe sell a drawing or two to buy or fix things. Marc Lacourciere was no different, art was an easy credit in school and he used the money he made from selling pieces to buy parts for his bikes, his true passion. His inspiration came from brochures and commercials showing painted images, inspiring him to paint more, to try to be like the artists in the brochures. He dreamed of matching them and one day surpassing them and maybe even working alongside them. He never imagined he’d be able to use his art to travel the world and put food on the table for his family.

The first-time Marc’s art reached the public eye was in the late 1980’s. He had been practicing and perfecting his form since his early years and from there, his popularity only rose. By the early 90’s he became a licensed artist for Easyrider Magazine, working alongside the iconic David Mann, finally becoming the artist he had always wanted to be. Later, he became involved with Harley- Davidson and was the licensed artist for American Chopper/ Discovery Channel. Even today, his list of accomplishments as an artist’s continues to growing. After 20 years of hard work and pushing for success, Marc’s business, Motor Marc Art/ Motorgraphics Collections continues to expand and has been everywhere from tropical cruise ships, all over North America, and has even just returned from a show in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Achieving what many artists only dream of, Marc has reached a point in his career where he is able to pick and choose the pieces he wants to paint. He allows himself time to enjoy the little things, not always rushing around crazy.

Today, Marc is considered a licensed artist with over a dozen international companies, including Ford, Chevy, NASCAR, and even Fender Guitars, for whom he recently completed his Fender Legends Series. Despite the big-name companies and the international recognition, at the end of the day it’s still just about creating beautiful pieces of art, and trying to paint all of the things in life that inspire him the most, which according to him, would take more than just this lifetime. When asked what sets him apart from other moto-artists, he came back with an absolutely beautiful response, “We, speaking for all motorcycle artists, we all share the same passion and adventures. We all have a different art style and that’s great if we can all make it work for ourselves. We all have the best jobs in the world and there’s no need to compare, so long as we love what we create and help each other grow in our own journeys to fill homes with joy and beautiful art”

As a writer and an artist, I was humbled by his response. So often in life we find ourselves squabbling over differences, looking for ways to make ourselves better than the person next to us. Everything has become a competition, right down to who can tie their shoes better. Art is a beautiful, unifying thing, and at time like this where we experience war, famine, poverty and death, it’s nice to sit back and remember that we are all in this together. Creating the same beautiful artwork, one person at a time.
